3 3 The PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) welcomed five final year Bachelor of Nursing students from the Kulliyyah of Nursing, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Malaysia as part of a Student Mobility Exchange Programme between IIUM-UBD that started in 2015. The ongoing collaboration between the IIUM and UBD signifies the strong partnership that could be expanded to cultivation of intellect and research. Specifically, the programme aims to give students opportunities to observe the teaching facilities available in the Institute and to gain clinical experience in a hospital-based setting. The programme ran from January 20th to March 3rd 2018, and was facilitated by IHS nursing lecturers, Cikgu Mursidi bin Hj Ali and Cikgu Pg Norasmah binti Pg Hj Ismail. During the programme, the students were placed at the Emergency Department and the Women and Children Centre, RIPAS Hospital for their clinical placement. They learnt numerous nursing skills pertaining to the care of adult and pediatric emergencies from this. They were also involved in problem-based learning and simulation activities at the Institute. The simulation activity involved caring for a SIM Mum (a high fidelity women simulator), which was simulated to experience post-partum haemorrhage during labour. This activity allowed the students to identify, plan and provide appropriate interventions or management during the crisis. The students also visited the Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre, the Jerudong Park Medical Centre, the Lambak Kanan Health Centre and the Renal Dialysis Rimba Clinic. During the weekends, they had the opportunity to enjoy the culture, tradition and historical places in Brunei with their student buddies. At the end of the programme, the students had the opportunity to share their experiences with the rest of the Institute by means of presentations. They were also presented with Certificate of Attendance by the Programme Leader of Nursing and Midwifery Programme at the end of the programme.
