All their symptoms settled or improved on discharge.Two individuals (2.3%) were referred to the Emergency Department at RIPAS Hospital; one was a 26 year-oldmale with chest pain and the other was a 29 year-old female with dizziness, both of their symptoms persistedafter 3 hours in the Treatment Room. Six individuals (6.9%) were discharged home with referrals to theirGeneral Practitioners; 4 of them because of persistent high blood pressure, one with low back pain due tosuspected urinary tract infection and one because of persistent hand trembling.If the doctors on duty were of the opinion that the post-vaccination symptoms were directly related to thevaccines administered, they would report the symptoms in the Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) tothe Ministry of Health. All the complications reported herein were symptoms the individuals experienced withinthe first 15 – 30 minutes post-vaccination, any complications which individuals developed after leaving UBD VCwere not captured in this report.All the doctors felt that it was their duty to volunteer to support the country’s response to the pandemic whencalled upon. It was also their professional obligation to assist others in times of a national crisis and they allreflected on the enormous value of working to support other healthcare professionals. All the doctors in UBDVC have also found the experience rewarding.
