L E C T U R E R S A T T H E I N T E R N A T I O N A LC O U N C I L O F N U R S E S C O N G R E S S I NS I N G A P O R E Dr. Yusrita Zolkefli and Dr. Sarena Haji Hashim, lecturers from the Nursing and MidwiferyProgramme at PAPRSB IHS, attended the International Council of Nurses Congress 2019from the 27th of June to the 1st of July 2019. This biennial conference was held at MarinaBay Sands Convention Centre, Singapore, and attracted over 5,000 nurses from morethan 120 countries. The conference theme “Beyond Healthcare to Health” aims to bring together nurses toexplore many approaches to achieve universal access to health and the provision ofhealth care. The programme covered various topics encompassing advanced practise,clinical leadership, equality, innovative teaching methods, patient safety, inter-professional education, policy leadership and virtual healthcare. Dr. Yusrita presented her research entitled “Exploring nursing students' views of givinghope to patients” while Dr. Sarena focused on “Developing a program on CommunicationSkills in Inter-professional Education for undergraduate healthcare professionals' amongstudents at the PAPRSB institute of Health Sciences, UBD”. In addition, Dr. Sarena alsohad the opportunity to moderate one of the concurrent oral sessions on researchsurrounding “Social Determinants of Health”. This Congress provided opportunities for both lecturers to meet global nursing leadersand to learn about the profession’s priorities and future directions. Listening to andengaging in lively discussions at this Congress has given them new insights on somecritical issues in the nursing field and inspired future training and researchcollaborations.B E Y O N D | A P R .
