N U R S I N G A N D M I D W I F E R Y S T U D E N T S 'R E S E A R C H D A Y 2 0 1 9 The Nursing and Midwifery Programme hosted the 4th Nursing and MidwiferyStudents' Research Day 2019, held on the 18th of April 2019 at Lecture Theatre 1,PAPRSB IHS Extension building. More than 300 nurses and healthcare studentsattended this gathering, on the theme of “Research and Inquiry in Health Care”. TheGuest of Honour was the Dean of PAPRSB IHS, Dr. Hjh Rafidah binti Hj Gharif. Theorganising committee  comprised of faculty members and first year students fromthe Bachelor of Nursing Cohort 10. A total of 13 final year Bachelor of Health Sciences in nursing and midwiferystudents shared their experiences and presented their research to disseminatevarious aspects of nursing and midwifery practice during the event. Topics coveredinclude bed-bath practice of critically ill patients, nurses' view of effective clinicalhandover, parents' expectations of a parenting education programme in Maternaland Child Health (MCH) services and family support for end-stage renal disease(ESRD) patients undergoinghaemodialysis. This annual event provided a platform for nursing students to showcase theirresearch projects to the wider healthcare community. The event also providedopportunities for practising nurses and midwives, academics, researchers andstudents to build relationships and to disseminate nursing- and midwifery-relatedknowledge. Several manuscripts from the projects are already under-review forpublications in international journals and shared at international conferences. Thisevent was a huge success, and the participants feel that future meetings are crucialto discuss more issues which concern nurses and midwives in Brunei.B E Y O N D | A P R .
