Symposium Theme: Advances in Clinical Chemistry & Immunoassay Technologies
20 - 21 June 2026
Day 1 Scientific Foundations and Clinical Translation
Plenary Session 1 - Advances in Immunoassay Technologies and Laboratory Automation
This session introduces participants to key developments in immunoassay technologies and laboratory automation that underpin routine diagnostic testing. It focuses on improvements in assay performance, analytical quality, workflow efficiency, and the integration of automation into clinical laboratories. The session is educational in nature, linking technological innovation to practical laboratory application.
Panel Discussion - Translating Diagnostic Innovation into Clinical Impact
The panel discussion brings together representatives from industry, clinical laboratories, professional bodies, and academia to explore how diagnostic innovations are adopted and implemented in real-world healthcare settings. Moving beyond technical details, the discussion highlights the challenges, opportunities, and practical considerations involved in translating diagnostic advances into routine practice, particularly within small- and medium-sized healthcare systems.
Technology Spotlight - Beyond Automation Towards Excellence: Advancing Laboratory Diagnostics Through Innovation
The session will focus on contemporary clinical chemistry and immonoassay platforms, with particular emphasis on the MAGLUMI portfolio of chemiluminescence immunoassay (CLIA) platforms and its application in routine clinical chemistry workflows. Through presentation and discussion of current diagnostic challenges and technological innovations, participants will gain insight into how automated CLIA platforms contribute to workflow optimisation, analytical performance and improved clinical outcomes.
Programme Overview

Day 2 Diagnostics in Practice, Workforce and Innovation
Plenary Session 2 - Diagnostics for Non-Communicable Diseases: From Screening to Monitoring
This session explores the role of diagnostics in managing non-communicable diseases (NCDs), which pose a significant health burden in Brunei Darussalam and the region. It highlights how laboratory testing supports early detection, risk stratification, and long-term disease monitoring. The plenary combines national clinical and policy perspectives with insights from diagnostic technology, emphasising the link between laboratory data and patient care.
Plenary Session 3 - Laboratory Quality, Standards and Workforce Development
This session focuses on the systems and people that support reliable diagnostic services. Topics include laboratory quality assurance, accreditation, professional standards, and workforce training and sustainability. The session underscores the importance of maintaining high standards and developing a future-ready laboratory workforce to support evolving diagnostic technologies.
