Residents of Mukim Sukang and Mukim Melilas participated in the First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training Programme at Julangan Titah Longhouse at Mukim Melilas for two days from October 25.
Organised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) in collaboration with Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah (PAPRSB) Institute of Health Sciences (IHS), Universiti Brunei Darussalam, the programme aimed to provide skills and knowledge on emergency responses to the residents.
A total of 53 villagers from Mukim Melilas and Mukim Sukang participated.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar was the guest of honour at the final day of the programme yesterday. The minister was also on a working visit to key locations in Mukim Sukang and Mukim Melilas.
The minister presented certificates to the participants. He also handed over First Aid Kits and an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to Acting Penghulu of Mukim Sukang Haji Mohd Noh bin Datu Maharaja Setia Dian.
First Aid Kits and AED were also handed to representatives from Kampong Tempinak, Kampong Biadong, Kampong Buau, Kampong Sukang and Kampong Melilas. The participants also showcased what they learnt during the demonstration.
Participant Son anak Bugik said the programme was beneficial to all.
“We are very fortunate to learn this from experts, as we did not have any knowledge on emergency procedures,” he said.
Son hoped similar training programmes will be continued in the future.
Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Abdul Manap bin Othman, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Professional) at the MoH Dr Haji Zulaidi bin Haji Abdul Latif, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Management) at the MoH Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin, directors, senior officers, and staff members from the MoH were also present.
